Itinerary

Do you recall the memorable scene when Margo Durrell decided to catch some sun under a shrine, much to the shock and disapproval of a young priest? That scene unfolded on the Mouse Island.
Nestled on the Kanoni Peninsula, Mouse Island is globally renowned and owes its popularity to its unique shape, resembling a mouse! The surrounding natural beauty is simply breathtaking, and the hilltop monastery provides sweeping vistas across the peninsula, making it an ideal setting for filming. Therefore, it’s no wonder that it was selected as a filming site for the Durrells series!

To the south of the city center, you’ll find the magnificent Mon Repos Palace, known to fans of the series as the residence of Countess Mavrodaki. This impressive neoclassical building, which now operates as an archaeological museum, has an intriguing history; it once served as the summer getaway for the Greek royal family, including Prince Philip. A testament to both love and conflict, the palace has witnessed many a historical event.
Constructed in 1831 under the guidance of British architect Whitmore, the palace was originally intended as a summer home for English Commissioner Frederic Adam. The inspiration behind this grandeur was none other than his beloved Corfu sweetheart, Nina Palatianou, who fantasized about a quiet palace in the countryside. Interestingly,. . .

Time seems to have stopped in Danilia village… Folklore museums, stone paved roads and medieval houses create a unique scenery of traditional charm. The biggest part of the outdoor scenes of ”The Durrells” was shot in Danilia Village, or “the Bouas Village», near Kontokali, in the northeast of the island. This is a replica of a traditional 1930s Corfiot village that was created by the Corfiot Bouas family in the 1970s.
Since then, it is loved by tourists who come to experience the magic vibe of this place. In Danilia village you’ll find beautiful stone made Venetian houses, little traditional shops, a museum, as well as an old-fashioned coffee shop.
