Leave behind the rush of the city and discover the most authentic side of Corfu — the one that still moves to a gentle, human rhythm.
On this journey into the heart of Corfu’s mountain countryside, time slows down and life takes on a different quality: simplicity, calmness, and a true connection with people and nature.
Stroll through cobbled alleys that seem untouched by time, meet the villagers, listen to stories passed down through generations, and feel the warmth of genuine hospitality that defines rural life.
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee in the village square, the distant sound of conversations, the scent of olive oil, and the golden light over the hills create a scene of pure serenity.
A day designed to remind you what it means to live slowly, to notice, to savor, and to reconnect with what truly matters.
Perched on a hill with panoramic views, the village we will visit is one of the most authentic and beautifully preserved in Corfu. Its colorful Venetian-style houses, stone-paved alleys, and leafy squares reflect centuries of history and a way of life in harmony with the land.
As we wander through the narrow lanes, you’ll meet locals and discover their tradition-rooted lifestyle. The village still preserves its character: stone pathways, old olive mills, small squares, traditional cafés, and churches dating back to the 16th century — though the Church of Saint Blaise was later destroyed during World War II.
Here, time moves slowly, and every moment radiates calmness, beauty, and genuine warmth.
As we stroll through the quaint streets and scenic neighborhoods of the village, we’ll immerse ourselves in the simple, tradition-rich lifestyle of the inhabitants. Our path will be adorned with impeccably maintained, vibrant houses and gardens bursting with flowers. We’ll observe men diligently tending to their vegetable gardens and women busily preparing lunch. A standout feature of this village is the genuine hospitality of the locals, evident in their joy and welcoming nature as they greet us in their charming community.
Our coffee stop will be a unique place called Varzas’s traditional coffee shop. Under the shade of the trees, in the square of a picturesque village, we can discover how the best aromatic Greek coffee is produced. Cafe plays a vital role in the daily lives of people in every field. There we will meet locals: listen to their folk tales, take photos, and feel like locals from Corfu.
This lovely traditional cafe has also a museum, since it hosts a great exhibition of handmade canvases, but also traditional everyday costumes of three generations of the old mansion of Corfu. Upstairs, however, you will discover something even more special. Handmade bags, scarves, towels and many accessories of natural origin, elaborate. . .

Upstairs, however, you will discover something even more special. Handmade bags, scarves, towels and many accessories of natural origin, elaborate and sewn by hand from 100% linen and cotton.
This grocery store offers also many labels with Greek traditional and organic products. Among other things, there you will find unique handmade jams for your breakfast, as well as homemade pastries, such as figs, peaches and quinces. All this is prepared with traditional homemade recipes, with the purest ingredients and without any preservatives. Discover the excellent variety of herbs, spices and herbs, which were collected from the mountains of Corfu, such as mint, tea, fennel, oregano etc.
In an old, renovated olive mill, you’ll have the opportunity to see and discover how Corfiots produced olive oil in past centuries. Just before the advent of modern, advanced technology systems, oil producers used large, rotating stone wheels moved by animals to crush olives into oil. This unique journey into the past will be complemented by an exceptional tasting of extra virgin olive oil and other local products, offering a rare glimpse into traditional methods and flavors.
The vast olive groves of Corfu are extremely useful since, except for olive oil, contribute to the production of olive wood of great quality, used in woodcraft, existing on the island of Corfu for centuries. You can have the opportunity to watch right before your eyes how a good woodworker transforms trunks and roots of olive trees into amazing decorative pieces of art.
During our walk through the neighborhoods of this beautiful village, we will come across a very old, dilapidated church dating back to the 15th century. Despite the passage of time, the church’s interior preserves exceptional Byzantine frescoes and rare icons in good condition. This is yet another testament to the high religious sentiment of the Corfiots, especially in the villages.
